About ECYE

te_mg_4716cropbw2Our mission is to help disadvantaged children in difficult situations and teach them how to help themselves and their communities.

Children with special needs face daunting challenges to live a normal life in any country, under any conditions. But in the third world and developing nations, these children are often overlooked, abandoned and abused. Social services are lacking, underfunded and nearly non-existent in many rural areas.  These children lead a stark existence, often sent to orphanages that are not trained or equipped to handle children in their condition.  They face a significantly higher risk of abuse or worse.

ECYE currently supports schools and orphanages for special needs children in Uganda and Rwanda, where children are taught the knowledge and skills necessary to thrive in a rapidly changing world. We plan to expand our reach to other areas in Africa, Asia and South America as we grow. We strive to offer hope, health and security to disadvantaged children while teaching them the vocational skills they need for their future.

It started with a visit to a school for deaf orphans in rural Uganda. Eden Orfanos saw more than a simple need for financial support, she envisioned a facility that would not only keep the children alive and healthy, but would also offer vocational opportunities that would give them the ability to become contributing members of their society. Eden inspired the foundation of ECYE and continues to provide its vision and recruit key contributors.

ECYE is a rapidly growing international charity that identifies orphanages and schools that desperately need the assistance we provide. The ECYE team is dedicated to using our resources, skills and connections to not only improve the lives of the children we support, but to help the surrounding communities be more self sufficient and prepare for the future.

One of the areas ECYE concentrates on is incorporating computing and internet use into the educational goals of our centers where it will be feasible. Within the next few years, much of the third world will have expanded access to internet. We will be among the first to train children in the use of internet enabled devices. They will have a tremendous advantage in the rapidly evolving workplace. Not only will they elevate their own lives but they will be contributing forces in the community.

Your help is needed and the time to act is now.  Please donate to support our efforts.
