Ms. Eden Orfanos is the founder and visionary of ECYE. While she has attained immense success in the film and television world, her true calling has been to help those less fortunate in both far-off lands and here at home. Ms. Orfanos has worked in conjunction with global aid organizations such as Habitat for Humanity, Domes for the World, the YWCA, as well as numerous local organizations such as the Downtown Women’s Center in Los Angeles.
In 2007, Ms. Orfanos met Falidah, a seven year old girl who was deaf mute, in rural Uganda. With no school for her disability in that region of Uganda, Falidah faced a bleak future. Ms. Orfanos returned and founded the first Eden Center; a school for special needs children, in association with the Wanyange Primary School in Eastern Uganda with Falidah as its inaugural student. Today, the small school has expanded and serves the area's deaf children as well as children with polio and other special needs.
Ms. Orfanos will provide vision and direction to ECYE as well as maintaining an on the ground presence for all ECYE foreign operations. |
